Maia Beth is a presenter and DJ from Washington, Tyne and Wear.
Maia hosts Pop Right Now on BBC Sounds which consists of two weekly shows – Trending Tracks and Hits for Days – and regularly covers for Mollie King on Radio 1’s Future Pop. Maia also works for BBC Introducing, hosting their special events coverage (on radio and socials) for festivals such as Glastonbury and TRNSMT as well as their new music showcases across London and Manchester.
Supporting new and diverse artists is a passion for Maia and when she covered BBC Radio 1’s Future Sounds she curated a show of female/non binary only artists as well as a ‘regional roadmap’ show – supporting musicians from all over the UK.
As a DJ she is versatile, playing not only commercial or new music but also speciality female/non binary only sets; which she will be bringing to Y Not festival this summer alongside presenting the Scruff of the Neck TV stage.
She has interviewed Sigrid, Rina Sawayama, Tom Grennan, Mimi Webb and many more artists.
Outside of music Maia is interested in fashion (due to host Junk Kouture’s London show this autumn – the world’s largest sustainable youth fashion programme) and women’s issues, which sees her assistant producing content for BBC Radio 4’s Woman’s Hour.
