Edith Bowman is an award-winning radio broadcaster, podcast host and TV presenter.
Born and raised in Anstruther, Fife, Edith worked at her parent’s hotel before going on to study for a degree at Edinburgh’s Queen Margaret College and then working in local radio as both a producer and presenter for two years. Her broadcasting career has flourished over more than two decades and now she is one of the most well-respected and sought after personalities in the film, television and audio industry.
Edith is the host of BBC Radio 3’s Saturday flagship show Sound of Cinema and for Radio 3 Unwind she can be heard daily presenting Cinematic Soundtracks. She is a regular on BBC Radio 2, often covering for Jo Whiley and hosting specials as well as the stations Scottish coverage of C2C Festival. In September 2025 Edith made her debut on hosting Front Row live for Radio 4 at the BBC Contains Strong Language Festival in Bradford.
Her radio work has spanned all the major stations, presenting shows on BBC Radio 1, 2, 3, 4, 6 and 5Live as well as Virgin Radio. As a TV host she has fronted an extensive and versatile mix of shows for BBC, Channel 4, Sky Arts, and MTV covering all genres. In 2023 Edith took the reins as co-presenter on Coast to Coast: Food Festival for BBC2, celebrating all things food, farming and countryside, with fellow hosts Colin Murray and Sean Fletcher.
From hosting music festival coverage, Life Cinematic for BBC4, the 2021 BAFTA Film Awards for BBC1, the BAFTA Scotland Awards and Hogmanay celebrations for BBC Scotland, to presenting dozens of movie premieres, Edith has incorporated her genuine passion for, and in-depth knowledge of, music and film into her work. Her own podcast, the ARIA & New York Festivals Radio Award Winning Soundtracking with Edith Bowman, combines these two loves and has become the go-to music and film podcast where she talksto directors, producers, actors, writers and composers about their relationship with music.
She collaborates on a curated film club Everyman x Soundtracking with Edith Bowman that brings her acclaimed podcast to its cinematic roots. Bespoke screenings and powerful conversations with the creatives and incredible minds behind exciting new releases and all-time classics have attracted stellar names such as Richard Curtis, Steve McQueen, Sofia Coppola, Emerald Fennell, Dev Patel and Demi Moore.
Other podcast projects have included Friends Will Be Friends for Radio 2 with her real-life best friend and former TV and radio partner in crime Cat Deeley, Netflix’s The Crown: The Official Podcast and BMW’s Play Next.
Edith is the host of the British Society of Cinematographers Awards, the Scottish Music Awards and presented the inaugural Ivors Academy Honours in 2025.
Commercially she has worked with many household brands including BMW, Specsavers and Ring and can also be found spinning the decks as a DJ for clients including Red Bull and Big Feastival.
A keen photographer, 2021 saw Edith’s own images go on display in an exhibition for The National Trust at Standen House. She is an accomplished home cook and in 2024 took part in BBC1’s Celebrity Masterchef.
Edith is an Ambassador for Nordoff and Robbins and supports a range of other charities that are close to her heart including Epilepsy Scotland, Alzheimer’s Research UK, Breast Cancer Now, Save The Children and Marie Curie.
