Born in the Valleys of South Wales, Katie Owen is a London-based DJ and Presenter.
A lifelong football fan, Katie headed out to the World Cup 2022, where she hyped up the crowds while DJing for the British Council and the Welsh Arts International. Nearly fluent in Welsh, she was asked to act as an ambassador for Wales showcasing Welsh language, history and culture and appeared on international TV for networks such as BBC News World alongside fellow ambassadors, including football legend Ian Rush and Olympian broadcaster Colin Jackson. She was also the Capital South Wales football correspondent, giving fans the latest updates and feel for the atmosphere during the tournament. Throughout her visit, she filmed social content for TalkSport and JD Sports. She regularly DJs at multiple Wales fixtures, and fronted SportBible’s social content for the Women’s Euros in 2022.
Katie made her TV debut on Welsh-language show Iaith Ar Daith produced by Boom Cymru which aired on S4C in 2022 and has subsequently appeared on their popular chat show Hansh. In 2023, she appeared in BBC Three’s MOTDx and in Wales on the World Stage for Red Wall + produced by EatSleep Media. Aside from TV, Katie can also be heard covering regularly on BBC Radio Wales and voices a festive special for the station called “Katie’s Christmas Cards”, where she chats to local heroes and hears about their Christmas traditions throughout December 2023.
After landing the spot as tour DJ for Kasabian on their 2021 UK tour, Katie played at iconic venues across the country such as the O2 Academy Brixton. Since, she’s supported Blossoms & Rick Astley, iconic SKA band Madness in Dubai and South Africa and joined Ryan Reynolds, Rob McElhenney and the Wrexham crowds as the DJ on the open-top bus parade celebrating the club's return to the English Football League.
An experienced DJ, she has packed out tents at many music festivals such as Isle of Wight, Y Not, Neighbourhood, Tramlines, Snowbombing and more. After cementing herself on the festival circuit, Katie was asked to host the Main Stage at Leeds festival in 2021, 2022 and 2023.
Katie has appeared on various BBC radio network shows including Radio 4’s Woman’s Hour and 5Live’s Nihal’s Music Review. She interviewed legendary rock and roll band The Rolling Stones for LADBible upon the release of their latest album Hackney Diamonds and has conducted numerous interviews at music festivals across the country for outlets like SoundON. She’s worked with brands like JD Sports, Carling, Superdry and Scott’s Menswear.
She is also a huge animal enthusiast and hosts Barklife, a visual podcast series, self-produced for Cardiff’s Dog Rescue Home for which she acts as an ambassador. This is also where she found the love of her life: a tiny, fluffy Pomeranian named Larry. Katie chats to guests from the world of entertainment, joined by dogs from the shelter who are looking for homes. Her love of animals doesn’t only extend to dogs: Katie regularly heads back to her mum’s rescue farm in Pontyclun to visit the alpacas, goats and sheep.
