    Jameela Jamil

    Jameela Jamil is an actor, writer, host, podcaster and advocate.  

    Jameela has built a multifaceted career across genres and platforms. Internationally recognised, her acting break came in 2016 when Mike Schur cast her as Tahani in the Golden Globe-nominated NBC sitcom The Good Place, opposite Ted Danson and Kristen Bell. The Good Place went on to win Critics’ Choice Television, AFI, Peabody, and Television Critics Association awards.  

    She joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe as the formidable Titania in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, voiced Wonder Woman in DC League of Super-Pets as well as Ensign Asencia in Star Trek: Prodigy for Paramount+. Other acting credits include starring roles in Netflix romance, Love At First Sight, Peacock’s Pitch Perfect: Bumper in Berlin and Rian Johnson’s Poker Face. 

  • Most recently Jameela has been cast and appeared in the Netflix movies A Merry Little Ex-Mas and People We Meet on Vacation as well as voicing the role of Ambassador Questa in the Emmy and Critics Choice nominated Disney Pixar animation Elio. Christmas 2025 saw her take her first UK role as Miss Melon in the BBC Children’s adaption of Adam Kay’s Dextor Proctor: The 10-Year-Old Doctor. 

    Jameela launched her “anti-inspiration” comedy podcast Wrong Turns in 2025 exploring the pivotal missteps, unexpected detours, and transformative lessons that shape people’s lives. She co-hosted the Audible exclusive series Mistresses with Dr Kate Lister which uncovered the secrets of lust, power and deceit behind some of histories astonishing “other women”.  

    As a writer, her hugely popular Substack, A Low Desire To Please, offers up refreshingly honest essays about her own life experiences. 

    Beyond this, Jamil is a boundary-breaking voice, using every platform at her disposal to amplify underrepresented perspectives, reframe societal narratives and drive lasting cultural impact. She is a passionate advocate for mental health, inclusion and cultural change. In 2018, she founded I Weigh, a groundbreaking media platform and social movement that began as a campaign promoting body neutrality and personal empowerment but snowballed into live events, collaborations, and a podcast. 

    She is a global speaker, bringing her insight, humour, and candour to the stage. In 2025, she spoke at the inaugural SXSW London, where she delivered a powerful talk on “failing upwards”, reframing personal setbacks as fuel for growth. She also appeared at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, solidifying her reputation as a cultural thought leader who bridges entertainment with meaningful and important conversation.  

    She began her career in the UK as a television and radio presenter, hosting shows such as T4 and Freshly Squeezed for Channel 4 before becoming the first solo female host of BBC Radio 1’s The Official Chart Show in 2013. US TV show credits include hosting all three seasons of the TBS game show The Misery Index and serving as one of the judges across the three seasons of HBO Max's hit competition show, Legendary.
