Rickie Haywood-Williams is a radio presenter, television broadcaster and DJ. He is currently on air alongside co-hosts Melvin and Charlie from 10:30am-12:45pm, Monday to Thursday on BBC Radio 1. The daytime show is home of the Live Lounge and is known for combining light-hearted entertainment and fun artist interviews with specialist music to their nationwide audience.
Previously to Radio 1, he hosted the Kiss FM Breakfast Show and helped the station achieve record figures and win countless awards, including a Sony Gold for Best Breakfast Sow at the Radio Academy Awards. This is widely considered as one of the most prestigious accolades in UK radio.
Alongside radio, Rickie can also be heard co-hosting the hit BBC Sounds The Footballers Football Podcast which he presents alongside Newcastle striker Callum Wilson and West Ham forward Michail Antonio, with series 2 winning Bronze at the British Podcast Awards. An avid sports fan, he is also a regular on BBC 5Live’s Fighting Talk.
Rickie religiously follows football, boxing, Formula 1, basketball and of course his lifelong team; Liverpool FC. Rickie covered the Euro’s this year for SPORTBible, in addition to featuring on Redmen TV, Liverpool FC TV, talkSPORT podcast; ‘Premiere league All Access’ and a regular voice on BBC 5Live’s award-winning ‘Fighting Talk’ with Rick Edwards.
Rickie has appeared on numerous TV shows, with 2022 seeing him star in the Strictly Come Dancing Christmas Special with dancing partner Luba Mushtuk. He also joined Sue Perkins and fellow panellists Jenny Ryan and actor Daniel Portman on Enter The House of the Dragon, the Thronecast Special celebrating the first season of the popular GOT prequel. In 2021 he took part in the first ever incarnation of The Celebrity Circle in aid of Stand Up to Cancer, making it to the final of the show whilst pretending to be Will.i.am. Other guest appearances include Celebrity MasterChef, Soccer Aid, Celebrity Mastermind, The Weakest Link and a win on Richard Osman’s House of Games.
Rickie co-hosted a prime-time Saturday night TV show alongside his long-time friend and collaborator Melvin Odoom for ITV, Bang on The Money. The show was based around groups of friends battling against each other in competitive studio games to win a big cash prize.
The BBC 3 panel show Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff saw Rickie take on the role of team captain, going head-to-head each week with Melvin Odoom and Rochelle Humes in a game based around life’s awkward and annoying situations hosted by Nick Grimshaw.
Documentaries are one of Rickie’s passions. He hosted a series of hard-hitting documentaries for BBC3 such as Cannabis: Britain’s Secret Farms and My Weapon is a Dog to critical acclaim.
He has hosted the ITV Official Brits Red Carpet and Backstage show, interviewing stars on the red carpet, making comedy VTs and filming with the winners backstage for the show. Rickie went onto host The MOBO Awards which was broadcast to millions from the ceremony in Glasgow… and yes, he wore a kilt!
