Theo Johnson, better known as ‘T1’, is a multifaceted Birmingham-born content creator, actor, musician, filmmaker and presenter.
In September 2022, BBC 1Xtra launched their first ever dedicated Introducing show, showcasing unsigned and undiscovered artists across the UK, with Theo at the helm. He hosts the weekly Sunday evening radio slot (10pm-midnight) from the Mailbox in Birmingham, the first permanent show on the station’s schedule to be broadcast outside of London. He also presented stages at SXSW, The Great Escape and the Touchdown Tour for BBC 1Xtra and hosted special shows from there for the network.
Not one to be confined to a specific lane, with his filmmaker hat on, Theo wrote and directed short film ‘Just One Drop’ released in 2020 on Amazon Prime, which he also produced the soundtrack for. This was followed by the anticipated sequel ‘Just Two Drops’ released in October 2023, with a cast boasting names such as; Junior Andre, Ivorian Doll, C-Montana, Khali Best and Chris Taylor.
T1 is also known for his lyrical prowess, and ability to produce music that goes viral on social media. His freestyle remix of “Man Can’t Challenge” in 2019 hit over a million views online and as a musician he has gained support from music platforms GRM Daily and Link Up TV.
As an actor, he has starred in Channel 4’s series Raised By Wolves, cult favourite films The Intent 2 and Blue Story and comedy horror AREWEDEADYET. For radio he has starred in BBC West Midlands drama Jesus Piece written by BAFTA winner Robert Beckford and Sarah Chukwudebe. On stage Theo has played the lead role in the National Theatre’s production of Gap.
A great storyteller and relatable content creator with a loyal following of over 150k across Instagram and TikTok. Theo has maintained a presence within the digital sphere, by creating original formats such as ‘Relationship Goals’ on Youtube and featuring on 4.0’s hit web series ‘Get In The Van’. He has also successfully aligned with brands such as LionsGate+, Fireaway. BoohooMAN, Nike, Subway and JD Sports to name but a few.
