    Jack Saunders

Jack is currently the new host of Radio 1’s New Music Show, broadcasting Monday to Thursday from London from 6-8 pm. He will also be presenting BBC One’s live coverage of the Glastonbury festival this June, as he did in 2022 and 2023. Since joining BBC Radio 1 in September 2018, Jack has been a prominent voice in rock and alternative music, showcasing emerging artists. In 2022, he took over The Official Chart Show.

2023 saw Jack co-host the Brits ITV Redcarpet and after party show live from London. He has also been with MTV since 2017, interviewing major artists such as Green Day, Ed Sheeran, Royal Blood, and Anne-Marie. Since 2020, he has hosted the MTV Rocks Chart, a dynamic countdown of the week’s best new alternative music. In 2021, he hosted the MTV EMA red carpet show, which was broadcast live globally.

  • In addition to his broadcasting career, Jack curates his own gig night called Hopscotch, featuring performances by new music talents like Yungblud, The Amazons, Inhaler, Wet Leg, Kenny Hoopla, and Renforshort. The iconic London night also surprises attendees with secret shows from acts like The Vaccines, Blossoms, Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes, Miles Kane, Jamie T, and Circa Waves. Hopscotch currently has a monthly residency at Lafayette.

Jack began his journey in radio at Nottingham Trent University’s student station, Fly FM, leading them to their best-ever awards haul with nine nominations, five golds, and one bronze. His professional break came shortly after graduating, joining Kerrang! Radio in the summer of 2014 and then Radio X in 2015. At Radio X, he quickly progressed from Early Weekend Breakfast presenter to covering the Evening Show, weekday afternoons, and The Chris Moyles Show, eventually securing the mid-morning slot.

Jack has also appeared on Channel 4’s Celebrity Gogglebox for Stand Up to Cancer alongside Yungblud. An avid gamer, he utilized the 2020 national lockdown to connect with fans on Twitch, creating Quarantine Karaoke. This Sunday night live stream featured artists like Haim, Ashnikko, and Declan McKenna, and included a Christmas nativity performance with KSI, Yungblud, Maddison Beer, and Joe Keery.

Additionally, Jack is a supporter of the mental health charity MIND and has hosted a panel for the successful iWeigh movement.
