Jameela Jamil is an actress, writer, host, and advocate.
Jameela was first seen on American television starring as Tahani in Mike Schur’s Golden Globe-nominated NBC sitcom The Good Place, opposite Ted Danson and Kristen Bell. The Good Place went on to win Critics’ Choice Television, AFI, Peabody, and Television Critics Association awards. She was host of all three seasons of the TBS game show The Misery Index and served as one of the judges for three seasons of HBO Max's hit competition show, Legendary.
Since then, Jamil has built a multifaceted career across genres and platforms. She joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe as the formidable Titania in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, and voiced Wonder Woman in DC League of Super-Pets as well as Ensign Asencia in Star Trek: Prodigy for Paramount+. She also starred in Peacock’s Pitch Perfect: Bumper in Berlin as up-and-coming pop star Gisela, guest-starred in Rian Johnson’s Poker Face, and played the role of the narrator in the 2023 Netflix romance Love at First Sight, bringing her signature wit and charm to the film’s storytelling.
In 2025, Jamil voiced Ambassador Questa in Pixar’s animated film Elio, a story centered on identity, connection, and courage. That same year, she launched Wrong Turns, her “anti-inspiration” comedy podcast that explores the pivotal missteps, unexpected detours, and transformative lessons that shape people’s lives. The project complements her Move For Your Mind campaign - an initiative encouraging physical movement as a tool to support mental well-being.
Beyond acting, Jamil is a passionate advocate for mental health, inclusion, and cultural change. In 2018, she founded I Weigh, a groundbreaking media platform and movement that promotes body neutrality and champions personal empowerment through original content, interviews, editorial stories, roundtables, and digital campaigns. The accompanying I Weigh podcast features empowering conversations with cultural leaders including Jane Fonda, Gloria Steinem, Reese Witherspoon, Billy Porter, and Tarana Burke.
Jamil is also a global speaker, bringing her insight, humour, and candor to the stage. This year, she spoke at the inaugural SXSW London, where she delivered a powerful talk on “failing upwards”, reframing personal setbacks as fuel for growth. She also appeared at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, further solidifying her reputation as a cultural thought leader who bridges entertainment with meaningful and important conversation.
She began her career in the UK as a television and radio presenter, hosting shows such as T4 and Freshly Squeezed for Channel 4 before becoming the first solo female host of BBC Radio 1’s The Official Chart Show in 2013. Since relocating to the U.S. in 2015, Jamil has emerged as a boundary-breaking voice, using every platform at her disposal to amplify underrepresented perspectives, reframe societal narratives, and drive lasting cultural impact.
